Prune out reverted shrubs
Variegated shrubs are beautiful but sometimes green shoots pop up between the bi-coloured leaves. Variegated plants are developed from natural mutations from a green plant and then propagated by cuttings or grafting. These mutations aren’t as stable and don’t have as much chlorophyll in their leaves as the original plant. In fluctuating weather conditions or low light the plant may ‘revert’ back to its original form to ensure it has the strongest chance of photosynthesising. Reverted shoots grow vigorously so prune them out with sharp secateurs or they’ll take over the plant.
