Batten down the pots and tools!

-

As we see more gales and worsening weather towards the end of the year, it’s time to store and secure loose plant pots, netting and anything else that can fly around the garden and damage greenhouses, plants or injure people. If you have space inside or under cover, that’s your best place to store items you won’t use until spring. However, mine need to be stored outside. All my large, reused plastic pots will get stacked together before being laid flat to the ground behind the shed and sandwiched between old crates filled with smaller pots, which have also been stacked together. Once this is done you can cover with a tarpaulin or netting to prevent any escaping pots from flying around. I also make sure any structures, such as pea gates and bean towers, are stored securely out of the way and away from the greenhouse.
