‘Kidd’s Orange Red’
One of the tastiest eating apples, this variety was raised in New Zealand nearly 100 years ago. It’s a cross between ‘Cox’s Orange Pippin’ and ‘Delicious’. Storing better than ‘Cox’, its fruits have a sweet, aromatic flavour with firm, juicy flesh. They’re pale green-yellow with a lovely reddish flush, but can be small unless they’re thinned in early summer. Ready for harvesting from early October onwards and if stored correctly will be good to eat until January.
