‘Arthur Turner’
Introduced 101 years ago, this is a mid-season cooking apple with distinctive yellowish skin and flesh that purees beautifully when cooked. The flowers are delightful too – the trees are covered in deep pink blossom in spring, making quite a show. Pick fruit in late September and early October; it will store until November. Yields are good and cropping is regular. These large, colourful cookers make an attractive alternative to the ubiquitous ‘Bramley’s Seedling’.
