Check over harvested onions

It should be possible to store onions for several months, but they need regular checking. The summer weather was perfect for ripening the bulbs as they died back, and that will help with storage. Even so, if onions had thick necks, where the foliage emerges from the bulb, they won’t store as well as those with narrow necks. Any with split skins won’t keep as well either. Make sure bulbs are in a cool, airy spot, free from frost. Bulbs affected by white rot while growing should not be stored.
