GARDENS FUTURE-PROOFING USAGE
Some National Trust glasshouses at Powis Castle, the Orangery at Lyme Park in Cheshire and the conservatory at Wallington in Northumberland are heated by heat pumps or biomass boilers. Edinburgh Botanic gardens is developing an Energy Centre, integrating renewable technologies with modern and more efficient boilers. At the Eden Project the £16.8m geothermal plant project will extract heat by tapping into ‘hot rocks’ 4.5km below the garden.
