The kindest cut
Tender or unreliable hardy pelargoniums and salvias can be easily protected by taking cuttings – so even if the parent plant succumbs, there are progeny to fill the gap. Put the cuttings in a pot of gritty compost in a cool but frost-free place and they should root quite easily.
