Rosa rugosa ‘Fru Dagmar Hastrup’

-

Originating from Denmark, this was discovered in 1914 by a Mr Hastrup and is named after his wife. This is derived from Rosa rugosa, one of the toughest of all rose species. It has diseasefree foliage and pointed buds that open into large, silver-pink, fragrant flowers, produced from June until autumn. Even better, the large, fleshy hips are showy and long lasting if the birds don’t devour them, and look wonderful against the autumn foliage in shades of gold, brown and green. It has very prickly stems and a suckering habit, making it a great choice for a hedge or screen. Withstands rough pruning very well. Height: 1.5m.

Try with Japanese anemones and fluffy miscanthus for pretty pastel colouring.
