Rosa moyesii ‘Geranium’

-

This large Chinese species is renowned for its spectacular show of large, drooping hips. In summer ‘Geranium’ has a good display of beautifully formed, rich red flowers over delicate foliage. It has an upright, open habit that arches as it ages, making it a good specimen shrub in the border. In autumn the large, flagon-shaped, tomato-red hips hang from the branches well into winter. Although the flowers have little scent and it flowers only once, it’s a good value shrub due to having plenty of interest and is easy to grow. Height: 2.5m. Try with purple Cotinus coggygria and yellow helianthus or goldenrod for striking blocks of colour.
