If only bird food was still tuppence a bag! Today, thanks to a number of factors, seed-based bird food is eye-wateringly pricey, but our feathered friends will be as hungry as ever this winter. So, what’s the solution? Well, if you can club together with neighbours, family or friends and buy jointly you can save a fair sum. Bulk buying either online or via a local agricultural supplier can give you savings of up to 20 per cent - ironically similar to the current hike in prices. Avoid sunflower seeds this year – they’re super expensive right now and similar fats can be found in other seeds.
