Repot any pot-bound plants

-

Now’s a good time to repot potbound plants, such as camellias, to top up nutrient levels and give them more room to develop. You can move them into slightly bigger pots or just refresh the contents of the existing one. If the plant’s stuck, lay the pot on its side on a sheet of plastic and dig out as much soil as possible with a trowel, trying not to damage the roots, before pulling the plant out. Empty out the old compost and replace with a layer of gravel or crocks in the base, then fill with a John Innes soil-based potting compost. Replant, keeping the same part of the stem at soil level. Firm in and water.
