Is it right that sweeping up rose leaves affected with black spot won’t help control the disease?

This is essentiall­y correct because the microscopi­c black spot fungus doesn’t survive on the fallen leaves but on the twigs. Hard pruning in spring is likely to be of more use as this will cut away much of the infection, although I’m sure you’ll still have to spray.
