Why are the new leaves on my acacia dropping off?

Stefan says: The new leaf growth on the branches of your Acacia dealbata turns yellow and drops off. You say it’s in a large container, sheltered and receives enough sunlight. Initially it became waterlogged so you drilled extra drainage holes in the sides, close to the bottom of pot. You wonder where you’re going wrong and without seeing some photographs, I can’t be sure.
However, I’d guess this is still the consequence of the waterlogging, which the acacia, coming from a warm, dry climate, would not appreciate. Choose a new pot with plenty of drainage holes and a 50:50 mix by volume of John Innes No 3 compost and horticultural grit.
