Dahlia delight

Having a wee experiment, I left all my dahlias in the ground last year. I knew nothing about digging them up. All of them came back up this year with no problems. Having seen all the chat about dig or no dig, I dug up one of my dwarf dahlias and I’ve never been so excited! There’s a tuber! So, I’m storing it. I figure I may as well start on something small to see if it works! Here’s a photo of my wee baby tuber. Fingers crossed… Helen Souter, by email

Simon says: It depends on how wet and cold the soil gets, though in central England I leave mine in the ground and they’re usually fine! Good luck with your tuber – let us know how you get on!
