Tidy the pond
Ponds are full of life all year round so there’s no perfect time to disturb the plants and clean them out. But some work is essential now and then. If your pond wasn’t netted there could be fallen leaves in it. These should be removed or they can release toxic gases as they decompose. Carefully rake them out. Try to remove dead foliage of marginal plants and waterlilies, too. Always leave the debris beside the pond for a day so any creatures have a chance to get back into the pond before you compost the material.
