Take hebe cuttings

-

Hebes are beautiful, wildlife-friendly, flowering evergreen shrubs. Taking softwood cuttings is a great way to get plants for free and ensure you have back-ups next season. Snip off a healthy section of stem below a node and cut it down to about 10cms long. Remove the lower leaves, leaving three or four upper leaves and pinch out the top to stimulate growth. Push these cuttings into gritty compost around the edge of a pot and pop on a windowsill or in a propagator. Keep them warm and watered and roots should be ready to pot on in spring.
