Plants with silver or grey leaves need less watering, as do fleshy succulents. When deciding on new plants for next year, think about peppering in a mix of plants that won’t even notice when there’s been a distinct lack of rainfall. Eucalyptus, lavender and stachys will mix with thyme, alliums, poppies and achillea in the sun, while euphorbias, hypericum and geraniums will happily mix in the shade. There’s always something that will want to grow in hot, dry summers!
