Label snowdrops

-

REMEMBERING where your favourite snowdrops are planted is almost impossible by the time you want to lift and divide them, so mark their position in the border now using a short length of cane or a plant label. This also acts as a useful warning sign when forking, weeding or planting in the border over the coming year, so you avoid disturbing or damaging the dormant bulbs. Dense clumps of snowdrops really benefit from being lifted and divided, either in leaf (‘in the green’) straight after flowering or – as some snowdrop experts now recommend – in early autumn as bulbs. A label is also a good way to mark the position of any special clumps of unusual snowdrop varieties, so that you can remember their name and easily find them again.
