Lon­don’s an­swer to New York’s sem­i­nal High Line – in which a dis­used rail­way line has been trans­formed into a pub­lic park – is one step closer. Af­ter six months of crowd­fund­ing, the ini­tial tar­get of £64,000 has been raised to pay for the Cam­den High­line’s sur­veys and fea­si­bil­ity stud­ies, with the Mayor of Lon­don, Sadiq Khan, back­ing the scheme: “This in­no­va­tive project has the po­ten­tial to be­come a real as­set for Cam­den, and is a great ex­am­ple of a lo­cal com­mu­nity tak­ing an idea and gar­ner­ing sup­port in order to make it a re­al­ity. I look for­ward to see­ing it de­velop.” The project aims to trans­form 1.2km of rail­way line into a gar­den walk link­ing Cam­den Mar­ket with the re­cently re­de­vel­oped King’s Cross area.
