Gardeners' World - - On The Cover -

What is your garden like?

A big mix of plants, indoors and out. We grow vegetables, hardy tropical plants and plenty that are from Australia, like me. My partner is a Kew-trained gardener, but the garden is our baby, so we really do both look after it.

How do you rate your gardening?

I would be lucky to get 2/10, but I’m learning so much. I’m so impressed with the range of plants we can grow here in our eight acres of English countryside.

Have you always had a big garden?

For a long time, while living in the city, I only had a small garden, with just a few plants, pots and a trickling water feature that I named Kelly Brook.

Have you enjoyed designing?

To me the garden is a stage, I am always creating, directing and choreographing when outside planting and working in it.

Which plant is fabulous?

Agaves! We have one that is massive.

Advice for those new to gardening?

Know your plants. You could have an incredible plant, but if conditions aren’t right, no amount of love will save it.

Plans for the future?

Building a stumpery full of ferns. Prince Charles and Camilla have one.
