This month is a great time to get your greenhouse ready for the busy year ahead. You might not have many plants in there now, which gives you the opportunit­y to do a thorough clean. The aim is to remove overwinter­ing pests and causes of disease, such as red spider mite and moulds. Washing the windows increases the light available to plants, too. Choose a warm, sunny day when you can move tougher plants outside for a while. Cover them with fleece so they’re not exposed to cold. Once you’ve swept away all debris, wash windows, floor and benches with an environmen­tally friendly cleaning product. Wipe away any pools of water, then open the door and any ventilatio­n to stop it becoming humid.
