Plant garlic sets
Garlic can be planted outside in the autumn, but if you missed it or you have heavy wet soil, catch up now by starting cloves off in modules. Separate the bulbs into single cloves (bought from a garden centre or mail order, not supermarket). Put a bit of compost into the bottom, then place the clove pointed end up into each cell and fill so that the cloves are well under the surface of the compost. Water, then put them in a frame or cold greenhouse. The cloves will soon shoot and be ready to plant out as soon as the roots have filled the cells.
