Watch out for new hornet

Gardeners are being asked to look for and report sightings of Asian hornets, which feed on honeybees. Darker than native hornets and with yellow feet, they were first seen in the UK in 2019 and were spotted again in 2020 in Gosport. Defra is working to locate and eradicate their nests. If you think you’ve found an Asian hornet nest, stay clear, though they aren’t usually aggressive to people unless they feel their nest is threatened.
