Jobs around the allotment

-

My allotment plot gets saturated with rain water during our wet winters, so it’s best I wait until spring to prep the soil for sowing. But this is a good opportunity to tidy up the shed, wash any plant pots that still need it, and organise the seed packets ready for sowing. I mustn’t be sentimental, so with a heavy heart I throw away old seed packets that are well and truly passed their best; making an opportunity to order and grow new varieties. Now is the time to order seed potatoes too, ooh the shopping list grows! I also must check my stored potatoes and onions, for any rotting vegetables that could spoil my harvest.
