How to sow onions

-

1

FILL a seed tray with fresh, peat-free, multi-purpose compost, leveling the surface so that it rests 1cm or so below the rim of the container.

2

OPEN the packet and tip the seeds into your hand. Don’t attempt to sow direct from the packet as this can result in uneven distribution.

3

TAKE pinches of seeds from your hand and sprinkle them evenly over the surface of the compost so that they rest approximately 1cm apart.

4

GENTLY cover the seeds with compost until they only just disappear from view. Then water from below and keep the soil gently moist as they grow.
