FEBRUARY

-

This dogwood could be chosen as a striking plant for any winter month, but it is perhaps in February that we most need the benefit of its glowing stems to cheer away the winter mire. From a distance, its flame-like colouring glows and when you move up close, you feel as though you could warm your hands on its red and gold twiggy branches. To keep these ‘flames’ alight, prune a third of its branches down to the ground in early spring (they can then become hardwood cuttings). Dogwood loves damp ground and is excellent in a large container. H x S 1.5m x 60cm
