Think rainforest canopy when positionin­g your orchid in the home. Orchids prefer bright but indirect light. Try to find somewhere with plenty of natural light, but keep away from south-facing windows and really sunny spots. If you want to put your orchid on a windowsill, opt for east or west facing.

During winter, the challenge is making sure orchids get enough light. You may need to move them to a windowsill in winter and then a shadier spot for summer. Avoid putting orchids near draughts and radiators. They don’t like temperatur­e fluctuatio­ns a place above 15°C is ideal.
