Lime your soil to increase pH

-

Add garden lime to your soil if you have neutral to acid soil with a pH below 7.0. You can measure the pH with a test kit from the garden centre and this will also tell you how much garden lime to add. Adding manure and fertiliser to veg beds every year lowers the pH and affects plants’ ability to take up nutrients. Rake lime into the soil and leave for a week or two before sowing or planting. Brassicas do really well in limed soil.
