Q If growing potatoes in peat-free compost, should I add fertiliser?

AMATT SAYS Some organic composts release nutrients slowly throughout the season, so check the manufacturer’s instructions on the compost bag and only feed if needed. If you do feed, then I would suggest mixing about 100g of organic potato fertiliser into every 15L of compost, before planting. Then simply plant your seed potatoes and gradually earth up with more compost as they grow. Alternatively feed every three weeks with liquid comfrey.
