It’s the little things
I loved reading The Full Monty (December issue) – it was a beautifully written piece which resonated with me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, and after a year of treatment found myself going straight into lockdown. I was fortunate to discover gardening while going through my cancer journey – it helped bring joy in my life through that time and lockdown! A friend said to me that although I had a hard time ahead, it was important to notice the ‘flowers’ along the way – flowers being a metaphor for the small things in life that bring joy. As Monty so eloquently said, “…the possibility of delight is there in the most ordinary and humble of moments”. I would go further and say this possibility is there even in the hardest of times. Thank you Monty.
