What’s not welcome?

-

No shocks here – with 43 per cent of GW readers not wanting slugs and 50 per cent not willing to welcome rats. I can’t argue with this, but I will make a plea for us to be nicer to hornets. Around 30 per cent of you don’t want to see hornets in the garden. While the Asian hornet is a worry, sightings remain very low, so the hornets you will see will be our resident hornet, Vespa crabro. This lovely wasp is extremely docile, an expert nest builder and a wonder to watch at work. I think you’re lucky to have them. Go on, give them a chance!
