Enjoy the promise of new growth with visits to gardens full of snowdrops. These very early bloomers are symbols of hope, and here we share some of our favourite 2 for 1 gardens for you to see them in.

The Argory, Co. Armagh

Enjoy wandering through this 19th-century garden set in a landscaped park, with masses of snowdrops lining the pathways. The site of a former orchard garden, it features mature trees, gentry house and a riverside walk with wonderful sweeping views. Chelsea Physic Garden, London

Following on from their annual ‘Heralding Spring’ event 24-31 Jan (excluding 30 Jan), for which you can also get 2 for 1 entry and buy specialist snowdrops, one of the oldest botanic gardens in the UK continues to display a wide and unusual range of snowdrops. Enjoy spotting them as you wander round.

Hever Castle, Kent

Over 90,000 snowdrops can be seen throughout the grounds. Enjoy spotting them as you wander through the winter garden, around the moat and right up to the famous castle and childhood home of Anne Boleyn.

Bodnant Castle, Conwy

This garden, in the foothills of Snowdonia, is carpeted with snowdrops in winter thanks to the gardeners and volunteers who plant 20,000 common snowdrops each year to create the display. Book nationaltr­ust.org.uk/ bodnant-garden – pay for one ticket and provide your 2 for 1 card on entry

Deene Park, Northampto­nshire

The snowdrop walk around the formal gardens boasts acres of naturalise­d wild snowdrops alongside a collection of rare varieties with unusual markings. Book On arrival at site. For more info visit deenepark.com

Cambo Gardens, Fife

Visit the National Collection of snowdrops, with over 350 varieties, planted all the way from the walled garden along the Cambo burn, with its bridges and waterfalls, towards the sea. Limited numbers of snowdrops are available for sale.
