Weed by hand around the base of plants in spots you can’t reach with a hoe or fork. It’s best to tackle weeds when they’re still young and small, and can be easily removed. As they grow, their roots can become enmeshed with the roots of the plants you want to grow, and so will compete for water, light and food.
