Jobs around the allotment

-

As well as the frenzy of seed sowing, this month, I make comfrey and nettle teas from the new spring growth to use as fertiliser around the plot. It can brew away while my seedlings grow and will be ready in six weeks. The sweetcorn patch-to-be gets a helping of wellrotted compost, in readiness for planting out next month. The pea plants I sowed last month need supports and the canes that I saved when I pruned my autumn raspberries in February will come in handy for this. On the apple tree, I’ll hang pheromone traps to protect it from codling moth. And I’ll watch, as the plot comes to life again.
