Pour multi-purpose compost into a small pot. Tamp it level to about 1cm from the rim to leave room for watering.

Scatter cosmos seeds on the surface, spacing them as evenly as possible. Cover them lightly with more compost.

Water using a watering can with a rose to avoid disturbing the seeds. Place in a warm spot and keep the compost moist, not wet.
