Whether I’m growing carrots under shelter as cute-as-a-button varieties in containers or as an outdoor main-crop variety, when they sometimes come out wonky, it’s the fresh, sweet flavour that makes them far superior to the shop-bought kind. Of course, freshly picked carrots are amazing in soups, as a side to your main course or even as a pickle, but they can also be enjoyed as a dessert, just like my delicious carrot cupcakes below.
