Feeding and watering

Throughout our trial, plants were kept well watered (often irrigation was daily at the height of summer). Seep hoses were buried, 4cm deep, at the base of the walls, to keep the light, sandy soil constantly moist. Plants were fed with a high-potash liquid tomato feed from late April until the end of October. Frequency increased from once per fortnight to once per week, as plants matured.
