Take cuttings

Snip off new, non-flowering shoots from shrubs such as hebe, fuchsia and hydrangea to make easy-rooting softwood cuttings. Collect material in the morning when it’s full of moisture and keep it from drying out with a hand sprayer while you work. Make the cutting with a cut just below a bud and remove the lower leaves. Insert around the edge of a pot filled with gritty compost. Label, water, then cover with a polythene bag or place in a propagator to root at about 20°C. Air regularly to prevent rots and pot on rooted cuttings in 8-10 weeks.
