It’s time to pull up first early plants laden with small potato tubers before I throw big bunches of chives and parsley into the trug – potato salad is on the menu. For an alfresco dinner I’ve also added padron peppers and lots of salad leaves with the first of the nasturtium flowers for a peppery kick. Delicious summe-fruiting raspberrie­s, redcurrant­s and strawberri­es have also started to appear. A good collection of jams and jellies will be gracing my cupboards by the end of this month.
