Jobs around the allotment

-

If the compost bin is getting a little dry by now, it might appreciate a few cans full of water to keep it quenched and the organisms healthy. From here, I move along the path to the maincrop potato mounds, which could do with a little earthing up. I snip off tomato side shoots as they catch my eye on the cordon variety that I grow outdoors. Next it’s on to the garlic and onion bed – I will stop watering the garlic as it will be ready to harvest in a few weeks’ time. But I need to keep on top of the weeding around the onions to stop weeds from competing for much needed nutrients the bulbs rely on during their final stage of growth.
