Harvest blackcurrants

Harvest blackcurrants by snipping off whole sprigs of ripened fruit. Hold a bowl or basket just beneath the sprig so when you cut, it drops into it.

Only select sprigs bearing fruits that are all evenly ripe. Leave any that need longer to ripen fully, and come back to pick them later.

The blackcurrant fruits then need to be prepared by pulling them individually off the sprig. It takes some time, so find somewhere comfortable to sit and make finishing this job a pleasure.
