Prune hebes
Prune back the whippy shoots of hebes now so that there is time for short new shoots to grow and harden before the winter. Use secateurs on small plants or shears to reduce this year’s growth on more established shrubs. This pruning will tame the shape and encourage more compact growth. Help the plant to recover and support the new growth by scattering a handful of granular fertiliser around the base and soaking with water.
