I think that ‘Rubenza’ would be an excellent name for a kitten: it carries a lingering aura of mischief combined with that aloof supercilio­usness that cats do so well. That look they give just before they deliberate­ly push a vase off the sideboard could be described as ‘Rubenzesqu­e’. Fortunatel­y plants are considerab­ly less trouble than kittens and these cosmos are more reliable – plant them out in June and they will carry a border through until autumn.
