Understanding my plot

-

It’s a daunting prospect: there it sits, this patch of land that’s optimistically called ‘a garden’, and it will be either an intimidating blank canvas or a mish-mash of inherited features that don’t suit you one bit. The temptation is to tackle just one corner, to blast away and blitz it, then retire to the house and collapse in a heap, not convinced you’ve achieved anything. What you need is a master plan, but how the heck do you make one when you’re not at all sure what such a thing is? The answer is to take things one step at a time. You probably have an idea of what you want, but before you go any further, take a look at what you’ve got. By assessing the situation accurately you can hopefully avoid wasted time, effort and money. Then wherever your patch of ground is, and whatever it looks like, it will be possible to turn it into a garden that’s worthy of the name, provided you tackle it in the right way.
