How to sow wildflowers
Wildflowers sown in autumn will flower next year, the annual ones in spring. You can sow them into a border, pot or bare patches in grass. Try scattering some seeds now and more in spring to bloom later.
1
Remove any weeds before sowing, so your wildflower seedlings don’t have competitors. Keep weeding regularly.
2
Pour a few seeds into your hand, then scatter them evenly over the soil surface. If several seeds fall in one spot, flick them apart.
3
Water using a watering can with a rose, so the seeds aren’t displaced. Label the area and water occasionally if there’s no rain.
4
Watch for seedlings and protect from slugs and snails. Some seedlings will come up in autumn, others later. Keep the soil just moist.
