A BOB SAYS It’s not uncommon to see proliferat­ed flowers, which have too many parts, although here two flowers seem to have fused into one, which is called synanthy. Regardless, this was likely initiated by a chance mutation, which, often as with fasciation (flattened, corrugated, ribbon-shaped stems), happens more frequently when plants are growing vigorously.
