Autumn is the perfect

-

time to give your garden a boost with colourful containers filled with flowers, foliage, fragrance and berries. A group of large pots will bring instant interest and look good well into winter, putting a smile on your face each time you pass by. I like to create groups of pots, with a single plant in each. I’ve put together five themed groups that look good together, to help you get a pleasing mix of plant forms, textures, leaf shapes and flowers. If you’re new to designing with plants, mixing singleplant containers is a great way to play without committing to a final look. For a mixed pot, pick one larger plant that you can build the rest of the scene around. Evergreen shrubs are a great choice, adding structural interest and attractive contrast for other plants. Once your structure is in place, you can add colour using foliage as well as flowers. My five plant groupings will bring impact to your containers for months to come. But remember, these are just my ideas. This is all about having fun and experimenting. With pots you can arrange, arrange and arrange again!
