MATT SAYS I would choose dwarf varieties for a north-facing position. Small daffodils, such as pale yellow Narcissus ‘W.P. Milner’ and white ‘Snow Baby’, or pink Cyclamen coum would work well. Grape hyacinths (Muscari) come in many flower colours – try white and dark purple ‘Grape Ice’, white and dusky pink ‘Ivor’s Pink’ and yellow and purple ‘Golden Fragrance’.
