X DECIDUOUS GRASSES These are now dying back and turning golden brown. Most are best left as they are through winter, to protect the crown from rotting. Wait until spring to cut them back.
X EVERGREEN GRASSES These shouldn’t need pruning at all.
X LAVENDER Avoid trimming back this and other Mediterranean shrubs now, as it would leave exposed wounds through winter that would be susceptible to damage from frost and cold winds.
X ROSES WITH ATTRACTIVE HIPS Rosehips are both ornamental and a good food source for birds.
X EVERGREEN HEDGES It’s safer to stop cutting these now, except for really tough ones like yew.
