Flavour of the month

This year, I was determined to grow this attractive flint corn (also known as glass gem). You could say I got carried away when I planted just shy of 50 plants! However, once they are in the ground they practically look after themselves. Week after week over late spring and summer, the plants grew to almost 2m in height. As autumn approached, I brought the cobs of corn indoors to dry. This type of corn is suitable for making popcorn, as I’ve done here, but not all varieties are so check before planting.
